The Irish Music Classes, which are organised in the area by Glenfarne branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann continue every Monday evening in Cullentragh Centre (The Old School). A variety of instruments are taught and both beginners, improvers and advanced of all ages are catered for. The committee are very fortunate to have four excellent and very dedicated music teachers in attendance every Monday evening – Brian Mostyn, who teaches button key accordion. Karina Ferguson, tin whistle, piano accordion and keyboard. John McLoughlin teaches the fiddle and Michelle Gallagher takes the beginners for tin whistle, flute and keyboard.
It is wonderful to see the large numbers attending the classes, especially the many adults. You have a wonderful opportunity of seeing and hearing all these musicians when they perform at The Traditional Concert in The Rainbow on Friday night, 9th April. This concert will also feature singers, dancers and comedy. More about this concert during the coming weeks.
If you would like to know more regarding the music classes, ring any of the following numbers 071 9830983, 085 7228686, 071 9853084, 086 8941797, 071 9853996 or call into Cullentragh Centre any Monday evening between 6pm and 9pm.

There was great sadness in the parish of Glenfarne and surrounding areas with the announcement recently of the retirement of Dr Philomena McManus. Dr McManus served the area as a GP with dedication, commitment and compassion down through the years. One of Dr Philomena’s passions over the years was the retention services at Our Lady’s Hospital, Manorhamilton.
We wish Dr Philomena good health and happiness in her retirement.
