The Ballroom of Romance turns the clock back for dancehall documentary

The Ballroom of Romance, Glenfarne will turn the clock back 50 years this month when it becomes the film location for a reconstruction documentary for TG4. Locals will also have a chance to throw back half a century as the production company will be be casting local people to dance and appear in the documentary.
A casting session for a reconstruction documentary to be filmed in the Ballroom of Romance, will take place in The Glens Centre, Manorhamilton this Friday, September 11 from 10am-12pm.
Magamedia are an independent production company based in Co Galway. They have been commissioned by TG4 to make a documentary about the appearance of the devil in Tooreen dancehall in Co. Mayo in 1954.

The documentary will take a look back at life in a 1950’s dancehall and how Sunday night was the highlight in the social calendar for the young men and women of Ireland.
The documentary will feature reconstruction of the faithful night where the devil appeared at the dance, entering the building at twelve midnight in a blue steely suit and sweeping young Brigid O’Flynn off her feet.
Magamedia will film the reconstruction in the Ballroom of Romance in Glenfarne on September 19 and 20. They are looking for actors and extras who are 16 years and older to participate in the documentary. This is a fantastic opportunity to put on your dancing shoes and dance to the quick step and be thrown back in time!
