This year the Breffni Vintage Club have moved the venue to yet another scenic part of the Breffni realm for our Breffni Memorial Run, in memory of all deceased members of the club.

They have a very exciting base location and run planned for you covering quiet roads with fantastic scenery. The run will commence and finish at The Ramada Hotel, Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim.

Entry fee includes morning coffee at registration and a full evening meal on return to the Ramada Hotel. A participating vehicle or motorbike must be registered prior to 1st January 1980 to be eligible for an award. Prizes awarded for best turned out vehicle of each decade from 1910 to the seventies; also motorcycle and commercial categories.
Each entrant will receive a Souvenir Finishers Award.

Itinerary:

Depart for a scenic drive taking in spectacular views of Leitrim, Roscommon and Cavan, while we will be driving on some of the World Rally Championship 2007, Stages. Our refreshment stop will be at The Ballroom of Romance, Glenfarne (12.30pm – 2.20pm) where we will be treated to a preview of their museum collection.

Meet at Source Cookery School and come foraging with us in Doorly Park. search for wild herbs, edibles and medicinal plants with Hear about the flora & fauna of the area such as willow, plantain, lesser calendine, mallard, scooter & garden snail.  We’ll give you an insight into the culinary history of Sligo.  Hear of the influence of Yeats legacy on Sligo and Sligo on Yeats. We’ll even quote you a little poetry.

Sep 9^th Fun Fungus Forage at Fowley’s Falls

Join us for a mushroom forage along the Glenaniff river in Rossinver. Indulge your hunting skills and enjoy the extraordinary waterfalls in this limestone valley. Amongst the hazel and conifer forest you will discover mushrooms such as birch bolete and orange milkcap. Spot the insect inhabitants of the forest floor including the fungus gnat who’ll be on the same mission as you!

The glorious Rainbow Ballroom of Romance in Glenfarne opens its doors for a one night spectacular of music, food, fun and games.

We are raising money for Jerome O’Loughlin to work in Cape Town and help build quality housing for some of the poorest people in the world. He will be part of a Niall Mellon township Trust project.

Top quality Bands and DJ’s from Sligo, Galway, Lisnaskea, Belfast and beyond.

There’ll be tasty food, circus performers, face painting, balloon modelling and a few more surprises on the night!

THE BANDS

M.A.S.S (Sligo)
The ultimate good time party band, whose live shows have to be seen to be believed. Musicians on top of their game provide disco, dance, funk and groove with a huge catalogue of quirky covers, jams, mash-ups and lots of crowd-pleasing suprises.

Mikey and the Scallywags (Galway)
Galway’s hottest new live act is a Bluegrass-inspired foot-stomping ruckus of a band. After recently releasing their debut EP Living in the Light, the Scallywags have squeezed in the Ballroom into a hectic summer festival season!

The People (no fixed abode)
Brand new 8 piece collective fusing together a wide range of styles and instruments. You’ll be treated to everything through folk, jazz, blues, rock and then some.

The Exhausted Farmers (Lisnaskea)
We drum on whatever we can find on the farm, plus a few djembes that were kicking about! Agricultural percussion has never sounded, or looked so good!

A brand-new event will take place on Saturday, 4^th August, namely the 10k race/walk. Also, a walk on Thur Mountain will be introduced, as this was a popular event years ago.
