Glenfarne/Kilty are Minor League Champions!

Glenfarne/Kiltyclogher’s U-18’s emerged victorious over Aughnasheelin in the Minor League Final played last Friday evening under lights in Cloone. Much of the first half was played in freezing cold conditions with thick fog leaving playing conditions very difficult, which lifted slightly for second half. The game was quite entertaining considering the conditions.

Glenfarne got off to great start in both halves, and at half time held the slender lead of 1-04 to 0-05 with the first half goal from James Murray. James also got a second half goal as did Steven Mc Manus.
Final score 3-07 to 3-08.

Team and scorers were:

Daire Clancy, Francis Keaney, Shane Ferguson, Ronan Mc Gowan, Dermot Harkin ( cpt ) 0-01, Nail Clancy, Steven McManus 1-00, James Murray 2-06, Michael Ferguson 0-01. Sub: John McLoughlin.

Afterwards, the cup was presented to team captain Dermot Harkin by chairman of Coiste Na Nóg, Dan Gallogly.

Transport to MacNean Out Of School Service Blacklion

Leitrim Councillor calls for improved flood defences

Local County Councillor Sean Mc Dermott is today calling for a review of emergency flood plans in the county after the recent flooding.

Leitrim experienced serious flooding last week as the freak weather conditions wreaked havoc across the country.

Cllr Sean Mc Dermott has today called for further action to prevent a situation like this from happening again.

I will be sad to leave Glenfarne Community Development Trust Ltd and MacNean Tourism on Friday. Thank you to my employer, Arigna LEADER and to Margaret Sharkey for her kindness, I will miss her.

Many thanks to Seán McDermott, Chairperson; I appreciate all of the interesting opportunities that he gave me, such as the various Tourism and Rainbow Restoration meetings. I also enjoyed working with Pauline Gilmartin, Tourism Project Officer when she was here. Thanks to the committee members; Seán McDermott, Gerard McMorrow, Gerry Finneran, Margaret Harkin, Mary Fee, Seamus Dolan, Patricia McDermott, Susan McDermott, Martina Guckian McGovern and Ann McDermott. Thank you to Mickey McMorrow and Gerry Gannon for their help.

Thanks to all the people that I came in contact with during my employment at Glenfarne Development. Glenfarne has a fantastic community spirit.

Homes flooded in Glenfarne in wake of heavy rainfall

Glenfarne suffered heavy flooding and landslides last night after severe weather conditions.

Heavy rain for most of yesterday resulted in a number of homes being flooded in the area and the main N16 road was blocked as the local river burst its banks.
