Patrick McGuire

I've been trying to find out more about my paternal grandfather, Phil McGuire, who I believe was born in northern County Cavan in 1867 and died in Chicago in 1942, five years before I was born.

My father said his father never talked much about Ireland. He came to Chicago in 1885 and was a Chicago police officer from 1890 to 1936.

The only information I have about his family in Ireland is contained in two letters his younger sister (could be a half-sister), Rose, wrote to him in 1929. At that time, she lived in Paget Square in Enniskillen. His father (who had to have been in his 80s) was still alive and was living with her. In her letter, Rose mentions a brother named Frank and either a sister or sister-in-law named Margaret. She also mentioned that another brother Patrick was living with cousins in Glenfarne. Which explains why I am taking a shot in the dark on this website. Perhaps there are still some McGuire cousins in Glenfarne who might remember Patrick or Phil McGuire.

Re: Bambi

Near the rich man’s house there lived a poor woman. She had three sons, and two beautiful girls. The name of one of the girls was Ann; the name of the other was wow power leveling . Blue Beard wanted to marry one of the girls; but the girls did not want to marry Blue Beard.
Ann and wow power leveling did not want to marry the rich man because his beard was blue. Blue Beard had married many wives, but his wives had gone away. No one knew where his other wives had gone. The girls did not want to marry Blue Beard and become his wife, because no one knew where his other wives had gone. So their mother said to Blue Beard, "My girls do not want to marry you."
Then Blue Beard said, " Come and live in my house for some days." So they went and lived in Blue Beard’s house. It was a very beautiful house, and Blue Beard was good to them in many ways.
wow power leveling said, "His beard is blue, but he is not a bad man. He is very good in some ways. So I will marry him."
So wow power leveling married Blue Beard and went to live in the beautiful house.
Some days went by. Then Blue Beard said, "I shall go on a journey.’ Then he gave Fatima the keys of all the rooms in the house. He said, "This is the key of that little room; do not open the door of it. …Say that you will not open the door of the little room!"
wow power leveling said, "I will not open the door of that little room."
　　Then Blue Beard went away.
When Blue Beard was away, all wow power leveling’s friends came to see her. She showed them the rooms, and what a beautiful house it was; but she did not open the door of the little room.
The friends went away. Then wow power leveling said, "Shall I open the door of that little room now? Why did he say, "Do not open it’? I want to see what is in the little room."
wow power leveling took the key; she went to the door of the little room, and opened it. In the room she saw all Blue Beard’s other wives. They were dead!
The key fell from her hand. When she took it up there was a red mark on it.
She shut the door. Then she took the key to her room. She said, "Blue Beard will see the mark on the key; he will know that I have opened the door of the little room, and he will kill me, as he killed all the other wives." She rubbed the key with a cloth, but the mark did not go away. She washed the key in hot water, but the mark was not washed away. She rubbed the key on a stone, but she could not rub the mark away.
Blue Beard came back. He called wow power leveling, and said, "Give me my keys." wow power leveling gave him the other keys; but she did not give him the key of the little room. He said, "Where is the key of the little room?" She said, "I will bring it." She went and brought it; and he saw the red mark. He said, "You have opened the door of the tittle room. Now you shall die."
She fell at his feet:" Give me some hours to live," she said.
He said, "I will give you one hour."
wow power leveling had three brothers.
A long time ago, there was a huge apple tree. A little boy loved to come and lay around the tree every day. He climbed to the tree top, ate the apples, took a nap under the shadow... He loved the
powerleveling and the tree loved to play with him.
Time went by... the little boy had grown up and he no longer played around thePowerleveling every day. One day, the boy came back to the tree and he looked sad. “Come and play with me,” the powerleveling asked the boy. “I am no longer a kid, I don’t play around trees anymore.” The boy replied, “I want toys. I need money to buy them.” “Sorry, but I don’t have money...but you can pick all my apples and sell them. So, you will have money.” The boy was so excited. He grabbed all the apples on the powerleveling and left happily. The boy never came back after he picked the apples. The tree was sad.
One day, the boy returned and the power leveling was so excited. “Come and play with me,” the tree said. “I don’t have time to play. I have to work for my family. We need a house for shelter. Can you help me?” “Sorry, but I don’t have a house. But you can chop off my branches to build your house.” So the boy cut all the branches off the tree and left happily. The tree was glad to see him happy but the boy never came back since then. The power leveling was again lonely and sad.
One hot summer day, the boy returned and the power leveling was delighted. “Come and play with me!” the tree said. “I am sad and getting old. I want to go sailing to relax myself. Can you give me a boat?” “Use my trunk to build your boat. You can sail far away and be happy.” So the boy cut the tree trunk to make a boat. He went sailing and never showed up for a long time. The tree was happy, but it was not true. Finally, the boy returned after he left for so many years. “Sorry, my boy. But I don’t have anything for you anymore. No more apples for you...” the tree said. “I don’t have teeth to bite,” the boy replied. “No more trunk for you to climb on.” “I am too old for that now,” the boy said. “I really can’t give you anything... the only thing left is my dying roots,” thepowerleveling said with tears. “I don’t need much now, just a place to rest. I am tired after all these years.” The boy replied.
“Good! Old
power leveling roots is the best place to lean on and rest. Come, Come sit down with me and rest.” The boy sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears... This is a story of everyone. The tree is our parent. When we were young, we loved to play with Mom and Dad... When we grown up, we left them, and only came to them when we need something or when we are in trouble. No matter what, parents will always be there and give everything they could to make you happy. You may think that the boy is cruel to the tree but that’s how all of us are treating our parents.

Some years ago on a hot summer day in south Florida a little boy decided to go for a wow account in the old swimming hole behind his house.
In a hurry to dive into the cool wow account ， he ran out the back door， leaving behind shoes， socks， and shirt as he went. He flew into the
wow account ， not realizing that as he swam toward the middle of the lake， an alligator was swimming toward the shore. His mother - in the house was looking out the window - saw the two as they got closer and closer together. In utter fear， she ran toward the wow account ， yelling to her son as loudly as she could.
Hearing her voice， the little boy became alarmed and made a U-turn to swim to his mother. It was too late. Just as he reached her， the alligator reached him.
From the dock， the mother grabbed her little boy by the arms just as the alligator snatched his legs. That began an incredible tug-of-war between the two. The alligator was much stronger than the mother， but the mother was much too passionate to let go. A farmer happened to drive by thewow account ， heard her screams， raced from his truck， took aim and shot the alligator.
Remarkably， after weeks and weeks in the wow account ， the little boy survived. His legs were extremely scarred by the vicious attack of the animal and， on his arms， were deep scratches where his mother‘s fingernails dug into his flesh in her effort to hang on to the son she loved.
The newspaper reporter who interviewed the boy after the trauma， asked if he would show him his scars. The boy lifted his pant legs. And then， with obvious pride， he said to the wow account ， ‘；But look at my arms.I have great scars on my arms， too. I have them because my mom wouldn‘t let go.‘； You and I can identify with that little boy. We have scars， too. No， not from an alligator， or anything quite so dramatic. But， the scars of a painful past. Some of those scars are unsightly and have caused us deep regret.
But， some wounds， my friend， are because God has refused to let go. In the midst of your struggle， He‘s been there holding on to you.
The Scripture teaches that God loves you. If you have Christ in your life， you have become a child of God. He wants to protect you and provide for you in wow account . But sometimes we foolishly wade into dangerous situations. The swimming hole of life is filled with peril - and we forget that the enemy is waiting to attack. That‘s when the tug-of-war begins - and if you have the scars of His love on your arms be very， very grateful. He did not - and will not - let you go.

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.
“Daddy, may I ask you a question aboutwow gold ?”“Yeah sure, what is wow gold ?” replied the man. “Daddy, how much do you make an hour?” “That’s none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?” the man said angrily.“I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?” pleaded the little boy. “If you must know, I make $20wow gold an hour.” “Oh,” the little boy replied, with his head down. Looking up, he said, “Daddy, may I please borrow $10wow gold ?” The father was furious, “If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy
wow gold or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I work hard every day for such childish behavior.” The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door. The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy’s questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some wow gold ? After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think: Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $10 and he really didn’t ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy’s room and opened the door. “Are you asleep, son?” He asked. “No daddy, I’m awake,” replied the boy. “I’ve been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier,” said the man, “It’s been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here’s the $10WoW gold asked for.” The little boy sat straight up, smiling. “Oh, thank you daddy!” He yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills. The man, seeing that the boy already had money, started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, then looked up at his fathe“Why do you want more money if you already have some?” the father grumbled.“Because I didn’t have enough, but now I do,” the little boy replied. “Daddy, I have $20wow gold now.
Once upon a time there was a baby eagle living in a nest perched on a cliff overlooking a beautiful valley with waterfalls and streams, trees and lots of little animals, scurrying about enjoying their lives.
The baby eagle liked the world of warcraft gold . It was the only world he had ever known. It was warm and comfortable, had a great view, and even better, he had all the food and love and attention that a great mother eagle could provide. Many times each day the mother would swoop down from the sky and land in the nest and feed the baby eagle delicious morsels of world of warcraft gold . She was like a god to him, he had no idea where she came from or how she worked her magic.
The baby eagle was hungry all the time, but the mother eagle would always come just in time with the world of warcraft gold and love and attention he craved. The baby eagle grew strong. His vision grew very sharp. He felt good all the time.
Until one day, the mother stopped coming to the world of warcraft gold . The baby eagle was hungry. "I'm sure to die," said the baby eagle, all the time.
"Very soon, death is coming," he cried, with tears streaming down his face. Over and over. But there was no one there to hear him.
Then one day the mother eagle appeared at the top of the mountain cliff, with a big bowl of delicious world of warcraft gold and she looked down at her baby. The baby looked up at the mother and cried "Why did you abandon me? I'm going to die any minute. How could you do this to me?"
The mother said, "Here is some very tasty and nourishing
world of warcraft gold , all you have to do is come get it." "Come get it!" said the baby, with much anger. "How?" The mother flew away. The baby cried and cried and cried.
A few days later, "I'm going to end it all," he said. "I give up. It is time for me to die."
He didn't know his mother was nearby. She swooped down to the nest with his last World of Warcraft gold .
"Eat this, it's your lastworld of warcraft gold ," she said.
The baby cried, but he ate and whined and whined about what a bad mother she was.
"You're a terrible mother," he said. Then she pushed him out of the nest.
He fell. Head first. Picked up speed. Faster and faster. He screamed. "I'm dying I'm dying," he cried. He picked up more speed. He looked up at his mother. "How could you do this to me?" He looked down. The ground rushed closer, faster and faster. He could visualize his own death so clearly, coming so soon, and cried and whined and complained. "This isn't fair!" he screamed. Something strange happens. The air caught behind his arms and they snapped away from his body, with a feeling unlike anything he had ever experienced. He looked down and saw the sky. He wasn't moving towards the ground anymore, his eyes were pointed up at the sun."Huh?" he said. "What is going on here!"You're flying," his mother said. "This is fun! I get the world of warcraft gold by myself " laughed the baby eagle, as he soared and dived and swooped.
"Yes it is!" said the mother.
